Assemblage

               woman                of               various

               crooks                 knee               neck

               hip             i             hook            my

               self         to           your          elbow

               many         parts         your        hair

               which         i         have        washed

               and        watched         turn       gray

               woman      of      years     i     smell

               you       everywhere      my     shirts

               are                yours            automatic

               what       doesn't      break     surface

               touch     i     am       buried          in

               it        woman         of         memory

               sight       and        sound      unseen

               breath       and       shout      breathe

               deep          and          of          mercy

               and          of        merciful        sleep

               name        not         of        language

               to        be        fit        and         tied

to     another     as     to     a    mast

               to           sail            from          here

               a          longing         like         bread

               to                     return                     to

               tossed       and        tossed       again
