Kassy Scrivner

Kassy Scrivner is a recent graduate of Union Institute & University / Vermont College where she earned her Master of Fine Arts in Poetry. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art, Poetry, and Small Business Administration from the University of Redlands. Her work has been published in The Iowa Source, Cosmopsis Quarterly and has received Honorable Mention in the Jean Burden Prize for the American Academy of Poetry. Originally from Oregon, Ms. Scrivner now resides in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she is currently the Director of First Impressions for the Greater Phoenix Economic Council.

Wrist deep in snow
I search for the orchid
but like the early frost
my hands find only surface after
surface.
Even horses
gentled in the storm
rub against one another
beneath their thatched roof
their heads
bowed to the trough.
