Sarah Black was born in the simple town of Springfield Ohio. Coming from extreme poverty and an unstable home life, Sarah perused artistic expression as an escape from abuse. By the time Sarah was 18 she had moved over 50 times and lived in three different states. As a result, this nomadic lifestyle becomes a thread throughout her work. Upon her high school graduation, Sarah received scholarships to study at Arizona State University. There she completed her bachelors of Fine Arts in Painting. Currently in North Carolina, she continues her sensitive works about home, social class, and domestic roles.
